The BEAMER
After developing automated pan/tilt heads and DMX focus motors, the next step in our automation journey was clear: lateral movement.
We already had ascend/descend via truss motors and hydraulic arms. We already had multi-axis pan/tilt with full flood/spot control. What was missing was the ability to move fixtures laterally smoothly, silently, and with precision.
Enter the Beamer
The Beamer delivers lateral movement with integrated cable management, allowing fixtures to travel freely without hindrance. The result: a clear studio floor and full control without ground-based machinery.
- Operate quietly and wirelessly from the DIT tent, making real-time adjustments during rehearsals or even during takes.
- Use in conjunction with the Illuminaut Head to add pan tilt and focus control.
- Run a single fixture — or multiple units — across the entire length of a set.
- Mount Beamers outside set windows to mobilise key lights to exactly where they’re needed.
On recent productions, Beamers have allowed gaffers and DPs to light unobtrusively during rehearsals and even during takes. If an actor misses their mark, the key light can be silently and seamlessly moved into position without interrupting performance.
Once you’ve worked with Beamers, you won’t want to light any other way. Full automation. Total flexibility.
